Simple, I watched my own reality TV show, didn’t like what I saw, and decided I wanted to change the channel…FOR GOOD.
Have you ever been flipping through channels aimlessly? Think about it. How many times have you just sat on your couch or laid in bed flipping through channels looking for something to watch? Now, ask yourself this question: Would you watch yourself? In other words, if there was a Truman show about you, would you watch it? If you’re like most of us, you would probably never watch yourself on T.V. What does that say about your life?
You can apply this to almost any real life scenario.
Teachers: What if you knew every class that you taught would be broadcast to millions of students every week? Would you alter your syllabus? My guess is you would. The irony of it all is that if you did teach a class like you were speaking in front of millions of people you wouldn’t be teaching, you would be doing seminars or something that made you more money than teaching. It may also do with the fact that not many people are interested in the electron. I digress.
All of us are guilty of watching reality television in some way, shape, or form, but have you ever stopped to think that your own life could be could be a reality T.V. show? And maybe the reason your not famous yet is because your life is; well, boring.
Now I am certainly not advocating that we all drop out of school or quit our jobs, but we are all guilty of not living up to our potential. In other words, you know you could be doing more. You are just afraid of failure. So the next time you find yourself channel surfing try your own station. Would you watch it? Would anyone?
